Dr. Lauren Yap’s journey to dentistry isn’t your usual one! It started with the idea for a club, Students Against Human Trafficking, that she started while at Villanova University. Following graduation, Dr. Yap worked as an elementary school math teacher as well as a research assistant for the National Institute of Health at the Center for Asian Health. Dr. Yap graduated from Temple Dental Kornberg School of Dentistry/College of Public Health with her dental degree (DMD) and Masters of Public Health (MPH) in 2019. She would then go on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certificate in Hawaii, followed by completing her Pediatric Dentistry Certificate at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA.
As a dental student she was ASDA's National Council on Advocacy Chair. Currently, Dr. Yap is an active member of the ADA, PDA, AAPD, AAP-SOOH, PAPD, and PCDS. Dr. Yap is a board-eligible pediatric dentist who currently works at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as faculty with the residents and the dental students and practices at Penn Dental Family Practice.
