Dennis M. Abbott, D.D.S. is the Director of Pre-Doctoral Curriculum and Integrated Learning and an Assistant Professor at the Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine in Joplin, Missouri. Before joining the faculty of KCU-CDM, Dr. Abbott practiced dentistry for 25 years in Texas, where he was founder and CEO of Dental Oncology Professionals, an oral medicine-based practice dedicated to meeting the unique dental and oral health needs of patients battling cancer. In addition to his work in private practice, Dr. Abbott was a member of the dental oncology medical staff at Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and a consulting dentist at the Baylor Scott White Heart and Vascular Hospital and the Baylor Scott White Institute of Rehabilitation. He has also served as a consultant to the national office of the American Cancer Society and was an author of the Society’s most recent Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Care Guideline. As one of the leading experts in the field of dental oncology, Dr. Abbott lectures internationally on subjects related to oral and systemic health.
